In localhost we can easily update the wordpress software by replacing the all WP files with the new one but In this article we are talking about live site not on localhost, so today we will show you how to update WordPress manually via FTP client.
Make Backup of Your WordPress Blog
Always Remember Before making any change in wp core files or want to Perform a WordPress update. you should make a backup of WordPress. You can still make a backup of wordpress software If you are unable to login WordPress admin Panel then make a backup of WordPress manually.
When you Perform a backup successfully, just go to wordpress.org and download the fresh and most reliable version of wordpress. Extract the zip archive on your computer. you can use winrar or winzip software for this purpose.
Now you need to download a ftp client If you don’t have installed on your Pc. There are many ftp clients are available on internet. You can search on google for best ftp clients but we recommended you to use Filezilla.
Upload WordPress Files Using FTP
First of all create a FTP Account and Connect your website via FTP client. See our guide on how to use FTP to upload files to WordPress.
When you successfully connect your site using FTP client, Navigate to your root directory. Now upload all extrcated files on your website’s root directory.
FileZilla will start uploading wordpress files to your hosting server. When you uploading the files on your server, FileZilla will ask you that target file is already exists on your root directory. Select the Overwrite option & check the box always use this action.
After Uploading the Files Upgrade WordPress Database
Always new release of WordPress comes with database changes. Upload all WP core files on the root directory and simply go to your site’s admin area WordPress will show you a following message.
When the following message will appear just hit the Update WordPress Database button. In next window WordPress will showing you that your database has been successfully updated.update of wordpress database complete
